About

Artist statement

I have been painting for about 15 years, exploring different mediums including watercolor, colored pencil, and charcoal. While I enjoy the unique qualities of each, it is watercolor that fascinates me most.

Perhaps it is because, in many ways, watercolor reminds me of my professional life. After years in the corporate world, managing and contributing to many projects, I’ve come to value planning, preparation, timing, and knowing when to act.

Like a project, a watercolor painting begins with a plan. Colors must be mixed and ready, and brushstrokes often need to be applied at just the right moment. Yet despite all the planning, watercolor always leaves room for the unexpected. Learning to work with the movement of water and pigment, rather than trying to control it completely, is part of what captivates me.

Through my paintings, I explore portraiture, the human figure, and moments of beauty and emotion while continuing to develop my own voice in watercolor.
